The story is set in a middle-aged couple Mr. and Mrs. Devras' home. Ramabai, i.e. Mrs. Devras, wishes that they start an umbrella factory, while Mr. Devras dreams of publishing his own book. When their friends, Colonel and his wife Umabhai visit them, a police inspector enters. He warns them that a murder is about to happen in their house, and that he is and has been around to stop it from happening.
