Synopsis

The play revolves around a high-spirited teen young bride who is unaware of her destiny of turning into a devotee of God and a searcher of His existence in the culturally laden society of 16th century Mewar. Initially; a sense of embarrassment looms in between the two young bodies; Rana; the warrior husband and Mira; the shy wife; who were yet to explore the sensations caused by touch of the opposite sex preceded by the emotional relationship. But soon time plays its moves and Rana is busy with the worldly affairs and Mira embraces the frustration of the wife whose husband is not available to her. Rana is no longer interested in the game and withdraws himself from her. Another failure in this relationship arises when Mira couldn’t give birth to a son. She becomes a palette of rumors in the palace being a barren womb. This further suffocates her and she almost succumbs to her cousin Jai; who is secretly in love with her and understands her but she in turn return to her childhood love; Krishna; the dark God of love. She undergoes a unique transformation. For others; it was from a barren wife who couldn’t give her husband a son to a woman being possessed. For her; it was from a shallow bubble of life to the concrete monument of love. The Rana; now believes that she has a new lover; surprises her one day to only find her talking to Krishna. In the end; Mira struck a radical blow at the feudal conventions of the Rajput aristocracy, and the mighty Sisodiyas of Chittor felt shamed by her public defiance. Mira’s battle to master her insane attachment to her God and her eventual realization that she can master it constitute a fulfilment. Now in her mastery is her Sainthood. At last she is at peace.
