Synopsis

Ashok Chomar and Hiraman both are Manhole workers and neighbours as well. Both of their respective families do not welcome the kind of work they do. Santosh (Hiraman's son) is pursuing his graduation, and hates the job of manual scavenging. He looks forward to do a better job which would earn him some respect. Ashok has a family of three; his wife Surekha, daughter Madhuri and son Mayur. Ashok is a hopeful guy who thinks that his children would be in a better position than him. He supports Madhuri in her studies as well as her co-curricular activities. A team of college students preparing for a drama competition. Madhuri Chomar (Ashok's daughter) who has looked after the costumes and backstage section for past few years, wants to deliberately attempt to audition for the lead part (Play is based on the life of 'Savitribai phule') of the play. But the director, Vedant Patwardhan has already decided to rope in Radhika for the lead part because he thinks that she looks good on stage, has a better diction and girls like madhuri should work according to their strengths and skills. The play talks about the struggle of a dalit girl who is seeking an opportunity to prove herself in a setup where upper caste powers dominate. It puts a light on the indian caste system and shows how an individual gets crushed under it.
