Synopsis
Ila is in her early thirties, a modern woman struggling to find her footing amidst career considerations, family pressures, body issues and the technological revolution. She is also heavily pregnant and due to enter soon into a new and wholly unfamiliar phase of life. To cheer her up, her husband and sister decide to throw a surprise baby shower for her. But not all surprises work out the way they’re supposed to... The modern woman has the dubious distinction of being in perhaps her most publicly available avatar. Women and their bodies have never been so visible and so exposed in documented history, and hence so widely debated in every aspect as they are at present. The Baby Shower is an attempt to look at one woman’s struggle to deal with this exposure, to retain her piece of the sun while dealing with the demands of society and biology.
