Synopsis
The play documents 6 Jan, during the Bombay riots. It’s a journey from futile helplessness to hope? It’s not the popular anger of peoples, but a methodical ethnic cleansing. From Bombay to Bosnia to Kosovo… the litany continues. One basic truth in any improvisation is – don’t resort to violence. It only results in two ends – One or the other is down or both are hospitalized. Yet, to take this as a symbolism and build the play around a jestful improvisation might steal it of its raw quality. So I kept to the script. Closely servile to the playwright. The narrative, the emotions, the arguments were my cardinal points. My concern for the eroding sensibilities and the rise of intolerance, thought policing and the demeaning of Hinduism as a Prosletysing religion find expression. Not I hope at the expense of the enjoyment of the play. The play happens at the homes of Siyani, Advani, the VT Station & the streets of Bombay.
